Anyone Else Sick of 2012?

Well I am! I just want to hear about 2009 right now! Sorry everyone, I just had to get this off my chest. Sure I enjoy watching the programs on such things now and then, but today it finally crossed the line. You see, I have two children, a boy age 7, a girl age 4, and two step children, a boy age 8 and a girl age 11. While they were sitting at the dinner table I overheard a discussion from my step children about the end of the world. Apparently in school, this is a hot topic. What concerns me is not that my children and step children are staying up with the news, what concerns me is if they are taking this to heart and it is interfering in their thought process about their lives. All of the kids thought this was pretty funny from what I could tell, except for my son, the one who is 7. You see, Bowen, well, he is a very sensitive young man, he is very caring and loving. He is very compassionate and always has been, almost more so than any child I have ever known before. Well, as soon as he heard this, I could see the emotions rising, and he says, "I don't want to die." Immediately I announce to everyone that I will hear no more of this subject, that this is nonsense, and that nobody, nobody knows for sure when the world is going to come to an end. Sigh... for all I know it may or may not happen, the point is "It's not what matters today and I don't want my children fearing that they are about to die within the next few years!" Ugh, ok I am done, venting finished! Don't worry I promise to hardly ever do this, just mostly happy chatter and good giveaways. ;)

P.S. I do love to watch the history channel and discovery channel and I do love watching stuff like this for the heck of it, but I am an adult and I would hope that other adults aren't telling their children to prepare for eternal doom and spread the news at school.:P Oh and yes, I will watch the movie when it comes out because I do love a good disaster movie! lol Ok I am done now!

Giveaway: The Misfits on DVD

Another new giveaway for you all! The Misfits, starring Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe! I am sad to say I haven't seen this one myself yet but have heard a lot about it over the years. To give you a brief bio, here is one from All Movie Guide.

The final film of stars Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe is an elegy for the death of the Old West from writer Arthur Miller and director John Huston. Gable stars as Gay Langland, an aging hand traveling the byways and working at rodeos with his two comrades, Guido (Eli Wallach) and young Perce Howland (Montgomery Clift). The three men come up with a plan to corral some misfit mustangs and sell them for dog food, but Gay's new girlfriend Roslyn Taber (Marilyn Monroe), a high-minded ex-stripper who has just divorced her husband Ray (Kevin McCarthy) in Reno, is appalled by the plan. Although both Guido and Perce are also in love with Roslyn, she stands by Gay, sure that in the end he will do the right thing, even as he and his pals begin their planned roundup. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Win "A Walk on the Moon" on DVD!

Ladies, if you haven't seen this movie, I insist you do! Viggo Mortensen is an eyeful and Liev Schreiber is just as enjoyable in this movie too! Also The lovely Diane Lane is as gorgeous as ever. Wonderful cast and film, one of my favorites too. If you have or haven't seen this and do not have it yet, here is your chance! Here is a bit about the film by Mark Deming, All Movie Guide. Also included is a trailer to view as well. Below that you will find the guidelines for entering. =)

The personal turning points of a family in crisis are portrayed against the backdrop of one of America's most tumultuous summers in this drama. In 1969, Pearl Kantrowitz (Diane Lane) is spending the summer at a resort in the Catskills. Married to TV repairman Marty (Liev
Schreiber) and the mother of two children, respectably middle-class Pearl feels trapped by domestic life and inwardly lusts after a traveling salesman named Walker (Viggo Mortensen). When Marty is called back to the city one weekend, Pearl impulsively arranges to meet Walker at a music festival going on in nearby Bethel, New York -- The Woodstock Music and Art Fair. However, Pearl doesn't realize that her teenage daughter Alison (Anna Paquin) has secret plans of her own, and when mother and daughter meet in the midst of hippiedoms's most celebrated moment, both have a lot of explaining to do, to each other and to Marty. A Walk On The Moon was produced in part by Dustin Hoffman, and premiered at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Win "The Trouble With Angels" on DVD!

Another classic film, The Trouble With Angels, starring Hayley Mills and Rosalind Russell! I grew up watching this with my mother, I have always loved this one. If you haven't seen it here is your chance! Here is a bit about the movie by Craig Butler, All Movie Guide. Rules on how to enter are below..

The Trouble With Angels opens on the first day of school for a new batch of students at St. Francis Academy, run by a very strong-willed Mother Superior (Rosalind Russell). She is used to having things her way, but she may have met her match in the headstrong and independent Mary Clancy (Hayley Mills) and her newfound friend, Rachel Devery (June Harding). Mary, easily bored and ready to rebel at the drop of a hat, comes up with an endless series of "scathingly brilliant" schemes designed either to amuse her and Rachel, torture insufferable schoolmate Marvel-Ann, or in some way help them get ahead. Rachel, who would never come up with such ideas on her own, is delighted to go along with them. The duo starts right away by convincing several of the girls to join them in giving fake names to the sisters that register them. Future escapades include guided tours of the nuns' living quarters, illicit cigarette smoking that brings about the fire brigade, replacing sugar with soap bubbles, and many others. Several times the Mother Superior is on the brink of expelling the girls, but she relents, knowing something of their home lives and that they will benefit from the more nurturing environment of the school. By the end of the film, the girls have indeed grown, and Mary, in particular, has developed a special love for the Academy. ~ Craig Butler, All Movie Guide
